The Cleveland Browns first action in the 2022 NFL draft came in the second round with the 44th overall pick. After a few surprise picks and all but one quarterback still on the board, the team made another trade with the Houston Texans.
The two teams came together on the huge Deshaun Watson trade and now come together in the middle of the second round to allow the Texans to move up to select WR John Metchie III.
In exchange for that pick, Cleveland moved down 24 spots to the 68th pick, in the third round. The Browns added picks #108 and #124 in the fourth round.
Cleveland now owns the following picks in this year’s draft:
- 3rd Round: 68, 78, 99
- 4th Round: 108, 118, 124
- 6th Round: 202
- 7th Round: 223, 246
According to Ian Rapoport on the NFL Network, Houston jumped the Baltimore Ravens to draft Metchie believing he would have been the Browns rival’s pick to replace Marquise Brown.
