Browns surrendered a whopping 18 pressures to Jaguars in Week 2

The Cleveland Browns got into the win column Sunday afternoon with an 18-13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This was a defensive battle through and through as the Browns managed to hold the Jags to just one touchdown while sacking quarterback Trevor Lawrence four times and forcing a fumble.

However, pertinent issues remains for the Browns on the offensive side of the ball.

According to JaguarsWire writer Daniel Griffis, the Jaguars managed to pressure Watson 18 total times on 38 dropbacks, with multiple pressures coming at the same time. Surprisingly, they only managed two sacks but added eight quarterback hits.

A majority of that production came from Josh Hines-Allen alone as the young pass rusher has grown into a premier edge threat and took advantage of a great match-up where the Browns were weak. It should be no surprise that Cleveland struggled with the edges as both starting tackles missed the game for a second straight week.

What’s more concerning is that the Jaguars produced a lot of pressure from the interior where the Browns’ strength and health lay as both guards and the center played 100 percent of snaps.

The Jaguars have quite the underrated defensive line so the Browns shouldn’t panic as they won’t face as well-built pass rushes very often, but this is still an unsustainable amount of pressure to receive if Watson is ever to get back on track.

The team eagerly awaits to regain strength with the return of Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills Jr. who’ve returned to practice but have yet to play this season.
