Browns send LT Jedrick Wills Jr. to IR with MCL injury but expected to return this season

The Cleveland Browns will be without starting left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. for at least four weeks after the team placed him on injured reserve.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced the fourth-year veteran suffered an MCL sprain in the Browns’ 27-0 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9, but that Wills’ injury would not be season-ending. Wills left the game on a cart in an air cast and did not return. He had already left the game once with a knee injury but returned before the second injury ended his day.

James Hudson III took over for Wills afterward in Week 9, but Stefanski added that the next starting left tackle isn’t set in stone.

This is the second starter to go down with a multi-game injury after offensive tackle Jack Conklin tore his ACL and MCL in Week 1. Running back Nick Chubb also suffered a major knee injury this season and won’t play the rest of the year.

Wills’ absence could affect the entire offense if his replacement plays poorly. Cleveland’s next four games include two division rivals – the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers – as well as the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams.
