Well, that was fast. After firing defensive coordinator Joe Woods this morning, the Cleveland Browns are already making a move on his replacement. Current linebackers coach for the New England Patriots, Jerod Mayo, was listed as a potential target by ESPN’s Kimberley Martin, and now the Browns have officially requested to interview him for the gig.
Given the early link between the Browns and Mayo, and how quickly the Browns are moving in on him, there seems to be real smoke as head coach Kevin Stefanski looks to replace Woods to significantly improve his defense in 2023. Expect the Browns to interview more than one candidate, however.
