Browns release statement after Jerry Jeudy three-year extension

General manager Andrew Berry celebrated the Jerry Jeudy extension in a statement released to the media. The Cleveland Browns signed Jerry Jeudy to a three-year extension worth up to $58 million. Berry was emphatic about locking up a young receiver with a ton of potential. Berry was quoted as saying,

“We felt that the ability to add a passionate and competitive player with his combination of strengths would be an important component of our offense now and into the future. At 24-years-old and just entering his prime, we are pleased to have Jerry as a member of the Browns for the next several seasons and believe the best is yet to come.”

Berry traded a fifth and sixth-round pick for Jeudy earlier in the offseason. The Browns spent little time making Jeudy part of the long-term future. The Browns have a lot of faith in the young receiver. The former first-round pick has yet to record more than 1,000 yards receiving in his four-year career. The Browns believe they’ve bought low on a talented receiver marred by horrible quarterbacks.

Jeudy and his mentor, Amari Cooper, are paired next to each other this season. The bond between them will help Jeudy evolve his game. Cooper is a craftsman; every movement he makes is precise and planned. If Jeudy can learn from Cooper, then this will become a sweetheart deal for the Browns.
