Cleveland Browns running back Pierre Strong Jr left Wednesday’s afternoon practice in an ambulance, according to multiple reports.
Strong was seen walking off the field with trainers after suffering an apparent upper-body injury during a drill during practice. The Browns suffered another injury scare at running back earlier this offseason with newly acquired back D’Onta Foreman, who has thankfully returned to total health after a neck injury.
Cleveland is already considered to be thin at the running back position as they await Nyheim Hines and Nick Chubb’s return to the field. Both backs are making good progress but would be lucky to be back by Week 1 at the earliest. This leaves Foreman and third-year back Jerome Ford as the team’s only healthy running backs as the season quickly approaches.
The Browns await official word on the extent of Pierre Strong’s injury and will most likely not find out until after practice. Strong walking off the field under his power leaves reason for optimism as we await further news.
UPDATE: Head coach Kevin Stefanski has stated Strong Jr. sustained an injury to his ribs.
