The projections do not include compensatory picks awarded from the 2020 Resolution JC-2A. The resolution hopes to encourage diversity at the top levels of the league. The resolution awards organizations that developed minority candidates for head coach or general manager positions with multiple third-round picks.
The Browns will receive a third-round pick in the upcoming draft after the Minnesota Vikings hired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as their general manager last season. The Browns have not received a traditional compensatory pick since 2017. The seven-year streak is the longest drought currently in the NFL.
Compensatory picks reward teams with an extra draft pick if they lost significant players in free agency the year before. It makes sense that the Browns have not been awarded one in years. General manager Andrew Berry is doing a good job keeping their homegrown talent on the team.
