Browns defensive end Myles Garrett told reporters Tuesday that he will no longer participate in the NFL’s Pro Bowl Games in the future.
The four-time Pro Bowl selection dislocated his toe during the Gridiron Gauntlet obstacle course competition in Las Vegas in February. Garrett was competing against Panthers defensive end Brian Burns in the AFC-vs.-NFC competition. After completing his portion of the competition, he limped off the field at Allegiant Stadium.
As the Browns began their voluntary offseason training at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus in Berea, Ohio, Garrett criticized the “run-away-from-the-cops” Pro Bowl activity, saying it was the reason his toe remains a “nagging“ issue for him.
“Jumping over walls and fences … doesn’t make sense to me,” Garrett said. “It’s just frustrating. But, by the time the season rolls around, I don’t think it will be an issue.”
The 27-year-old tied the Browns’ single-season record with 16 sacks in the 2022 season. Although his toe remains an issue of concern, Garrett says his left shoulder—which he sprained during a car crash after practice in September—is on the mend.
