Browns loaded with 2025 NFL draft capital after three-year drought

After years of low draft capital as a result of the Deshaun Watson trade, the Cleveland Browns will enter the off-season with the most 2025 NFL draft ammo in the league.

According to Tankathon’s draft power rankings, the Browns draft value of 1,189.60 leads the league. Most of that value comes from owning the second overall pick, but they also own a total of 11 picks. Four of which are in the top 100 and one more at 103 falling just outside.

This puts the Browns in a position to be extremely aggressive in this draft. Trading back, trading up, or staying put will all be on the table as the team transitions to a post-Watson life.

A bulk of these extra picks come from dealing wide receiver Amari Cooper and defensive end Za’Darius Smith during the season. There was a slight loss in value with Smith who cost and added several picks between Cleveland originally acquiring him from Minnesota and then dealing him to Detroit, but the total value comes out to losing two fifths, but adding a fifth and two sixths.

The team also boasts two extra compensation picks in the sixth round from letting Joe Flacco and Jordan Elliott walk in free agency.

That brings the Browns to a total of five picks in the sixth round alone.

Of course, a bulk of the damage they can do will be with their higher selections, but having that storage of day three picks will allow them to continue moving up and around the board when they see fit.

This will be a crucial draft for the Browns as they look to reset and reshape the roster in hopes of getting back to competing for the postseason. Whether this means they attack the QB position or build around it, has yet to be seen.
