Browns Lay Out Timeline for Nick Chubb Return After Friday Surgery

Browns running back Nick Chubb underwent successful meniscus and MCL surgery on Friday, Cleveland announced Saturday evening.

Per a statement from the team, Chubb will need further surgery to repair his ACL “in the coming months.” It is believed that the running back will be able to return at some point in the 2024 season.

Chubb, 27, badly injured his knee during the Browns’ 26–22 loss to the Steelers on Sept. 18. He was ruled out for the remainder of the 2023 season almost immediately after the game.

Initially, it was believed that the four-time Pro Bowler's ACL was intact. However, his surgery seemingly confirmed this was not the case.

Chubb has ranked among the NFL's best running backs since Cleveland drafted him 35th overall out of Georgia in 2018. He's run for 6,511 yards and 48 touchdowns in his career, fourth and third in Browns history, respectively.

To spell Chubb, Cleveland signed running back Kareem Hunt to occupy the spot on the depth chart behind Jerome Ford.
