After acquiring wide receiver Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos, the Cleveland Browns have now given him a new three-year extension.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Browns have given Jeudy a three-year extension, worth “up to” around $19 million per year with $41 million guaranteed. However, the full contract details will be needed before making any bigger judgments.
With input from PFF’s contract expert Brad Spielberger, he seems to think that Jeudy’s $12.9 that the Browns are guaranteeing him this year may be wrapped up in that bigger $41 million number. If that is the case, then in reality the Browns are actually only guaranteeing Jeudy $28 million of new money.
It’s impossible to know what his base average per year is as well with this information as it could likely be just between $14-15 million. This would put him under the contracts of Christian Kirk and Diontae Johnson, and right around that of Tyler Lockett and Courtland Sutton. This would be just above what free agent receivers Gabe Davis and Darnell Mooney got on the open market.
The Browns acquired Jeudy for just the cost of a fifth and sixth round pick. While this move is a risk, the Browns could not afford to let all three of their top receivers hit the market next year, so they extended the 24-year-old.
