The Cleveland Browns have begun their offseason improvements by firing multiple offensive staffers, potentially including offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.
What an early-morning news dump from the Browns as they are shaking up their offensive staff after a down season on that side of the football. The confirmed firings are running backs coach Stump Mitchell and tight ends coach T.C. McCartney.
There are, however, conflicting reports about the status of Van Pelt. Insider Josina Anderson has reported that Van Pelt has been fired and has stated his goodbyes to the players, while NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has reported that the offensive coordinator is still under contract.
For an underperforming offensive unit that did not see growth from its young running backs after the injury to Nick Chubb, and that is in desperate need of fresh ideas, Stefanski is making the right move to infuse new perspectives into his offense.
