The NFL trade deadline is nearing, and Cleveland Browns defensive end has been a headliner around the league as a likely candidate to be traded.
ESPN’s NFL insiders Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano have both listed Smith as the player most likely. When discussing this in their latest article discussing all of the deadline buzz, Fowler then went on to reveal what the Browns are looking for in exchange for their 32-year-old pass rusher.
According to Fowler, the Browns want “a decent Day 3 pick” to feel comfortable moving Smith. The pass rusher will be valuable to contending teams for a multitude of reasons, the first being that he is still a highly productive pass rusher.
However, he is also still under contract through 2025 and is making the veteran minimum the rest of the way out in this season as well. This all makes the compensation the Browns could get for him go up.
If the Browns beat the Los Angeles Chargers and improve to 3-6, however, will they be inclined to sell in a weak AFC?
