Monday night was a rough night from start to finish for Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. The first play of the game resulted in a pick-six as the ball went off Harrison Bryant’s hands and things didn’t get much better from there.
One of the weirdest facts from Monday was Watson getting called for two facemask penalties that helped set the offense behind on a couple of drives. During a scuffle on the sideline after a play, Watson made contact with an official moving him out of the way as he argued with Steelers players.
Buy Browns TicketsPer Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the NFL will not be disciplining Watson for this releasing the following statement.
“Officials are called upon to maintain order on the field, and sometimes while performing those duties, there is inadvertent contact between players and officials. In this instance, in their judgment, the contact did not rise to the level of a foul.”
The Browns will need Watson to get back to his 2020 form against the Tennessee Titans this week or the evidence will mount against him that the team could be in for a long season.
