Browns: David Bell isn’t going anywhere and that’s the right call

The Cleveland Browns have added a ton of talent to the wide receiver this offseason through the draft, free agency, and trades. Elijah Moore is the biggest acquisition, but veteran Marquise Goodwin will also play an important role. It has led some to think about who will be left out come roster cuts with people suggesting second-year player could be the odd man out.

It doesn’t make sense to move on from a third-round pick after one year especially since he played well in his limited role. Bell has shown he knows how to beat man and zone coverage and create separation with great route running and football IQ to identify holes in the zone coverage.

There will always be room for young players on cheap contracts that know how to get open and catch the ball reliably. The most likely candidates to be out in the wide receiver are Anthony Schwartz and veteran Jakeem Grant among others.

Grant is over 30 coming off a torn Achilles and isn’t a threat as a wide receiver he is only a returner which doesn’t have enough value to use a roster spot on. Andrew Berry values his draft picks and he won’t likely move on from David Bell after one season especially since he played well in his role.
