The Cleveland Browns are losing another member of their coaching staff. Browns coaching fellow Nyema “Nemo” Washington is leaving the team to become the offensive coordinator at Delaware State University according to TheOBR.com. Washington will serve under former All-Pro receiver DeSean Jackson who took command of the program in late December.
Washington was the Bill Willis diversity coaching fellow over the past two seasons, assisting the team on the offensive side of the ball. In 2023, he worked under Stump Mitchell and assisted the running backs. He was with the tight end group this season, including coaches Mike Vrabel and new offensive coordinator Tommy Rees.
Washington has an exciting opportunity to apply what he’s learned with the Browns. He will help rebuild a program that finished 1-11 last season. Delaware State plays in the competitive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, one of the two premiere conferences of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Washington has a lot of work ahead of him, but he’ll have support from the people he met in Bera. The Browns do a fantastic job of finding intelligent, and young coaches. They now must search for Washington’s replacement.
