Cleveland Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II is reportedly questionable to return with a groin injury, according to multiple reports. He did not start on the Browns’ first defense series of the second half. Newsome II appeared to get hurt around the two-minute warning of the first half with the Browns down three to the Seattle Seahawks.
The former 2021 first-round pick left for the locker room prior to halftime and backup Cam Mitchell started the following series.
The third-year cornerback gave up the Seahawks’ first passing touchdown to Tyler Locker in the first quarter but came back and had a nice defensive play on a third-down pass attempt against Lockett early in the second quarter.
Newsome had already missed the Browns’ Week 3 match against the Tennessee Titans with an elbow injury. He had 12 combined tackles and one defended pass prior to Week 8.
Newsome was not on the field to start the second half for the Browns.
Update: Newsome has been ruled OUT.
