The Cleveland Browns are pursuing Deshaun Watson including a meeting with him earlier Tuesday. Later Tuesday afternoon came a report that the team could look to trade Baker Mayfield whether they acquired Watson or not.
Mayfield has been the Browns starting quarterback since taking over the team a few games into his rookie season. He quarterbacked the team into the playoffs in 2020 but struggled mightily in 2021 through injury and Odell Beckham Jr.-related drama.
With his name circulating among the rumors, Mayfield ended his social media break with a message that could be taken as a goodbye to Cleveland. In a post on both Twitter and Instagram, the Browns quarterback talked about what he is thinking and feeling in this moment:
With many uncertainties, here is where my head and heart is. pic.twitter.com/psipN96cmh

Mayfield notes that part of the reason he took a social media break is that he doesn’t know what is going to happen next in his professional career. He is currently recovering from shoulder surgery with a chance to start throwing again next month.
The second screenshot presents as a goodbye letter to the fans and city that embraced him since he was drafted. Whether Mayfield knows that he is moving on to another team or just expects it, it seems the Watson pursuit over the last five days has brought the relationship between the Browns and Mayfield to a breaking point.
