Brothers found dead in Nalgonda, losses in real estate suspected

Two brothers – Martha Srikanth, 43, and Martha Venkanna, 32, of Nalgonda town were found dead at their rented residence at Srinagar colony on Monday.

Family members who returned home after Sri Rama Navami celebrations at their village Peddasuraram in Thipparthy mandal around 7 p.m. found the duo hanging, and alerted the police.

According to police, Srikanth was working at Sangha Mitra Bank in the town and his brother Venkanna was into real estate business. It was suspected that the brothers suffered heavy losses in the joint real-estate business, and related reasons might have driven them to the extreme step.

Police said a note purportedly written and left by the brothers was recovered from the scene.

They have mentioned about their unrecovered amounts, pending payments and insults as reasons, the police said. It was learnt that the brothers’ debts were around ₹ 3 crore, even after the recent sale of their assets worth ₹ 1 crore at Peddasuraram and Indranagar. Nalgonda Town-II police has opened a probe.
