Brother of murdered Jennie Poole says killer should be prosecuted for alleged crimes behind bars

The brother of murdered Jennifer Poole has said her evil killer should be hauled before the courts over his alleged crimes behind bars.

Psycho Gavin Murphy – who has a history of extreme violence – has allegedly built up a long rap sheet in prison. While awaiting trial, he was disciplined for physically abusing inmates, smashing up property and threatening officers at Cloverhill prison.

After he was handed down a life sentence this year for killing Jennifer, he was moved to Mountjoy jail where it is alleged he attacked a prison officer. Her brother Jason believes Murphy should be back before a judge being prosecuted over these alleged incidents.

He told the Irish Daily Mirror: “After all of his previous, he is continuing not to not follow the rules in prison. All of our taxpayer money is being paid to keep him in there.

“He should be further punished for what he’s doing inside if convicted. If these incidents are true, he should be brought to court over it and further sanctioned.”

Jennifer, 24, was stabbed seven times by her ex partner Murphy at her home in Melville Drive, Finglas, West Dublin, on April 17, 2021. Brute Murphy hid his previous domestic abuse crimes from Jennifer, having served three years in jail for beating up his ex-girlfriend.

Jason – who said “nothing is the same” since her death – insists his family will fight to never allow Murphy, from Ballymun in North Dublin, to walk free. He said: “When it comes to parole, I do believe we as a family will be lobbying the parole board to make sure that he doesn’t see the light of day.

“He doesn’t deserve to treat another woman or put another woman at risk of losing her life. That’s an important aspect.”

Jason is continuing to fight for a domestic violence register to be set up in Jennifer’s name. He added: “Until we get a domestic violence register in this country I will not let it go, because Jennifer would have been safe if there would have been one.”
