The brother of US Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who tragically passed away one day after being assaulted during the January 6 US Capitol attack, has spoken out against President Donald Trump's proposed plan to pardon many of the rioters involved in the violent incident.
Craig Sicknick recently reached out to supporters of a liberal advocacy group, urging them to sign a petition opposing the pardons. In an email obtained by a source, he expressed his concern that pardoning the rioters would allow them to evade responsibility for their actions, describing it as morally wrong.
In his message, Craig Sicknick criticized Trump and his supporters for not only glorifying the deadly mob that led to his brother's death but also for their determination to pardon those responsible. He emphasized that such actions would not only betray the families and loved ones of the victims but also undermine the principles of fairness, justice, and freedom that are fundamental to American society.
While acknowledging that nothing can undo the events of that fateful day or bring his brother Brian back, Craig Sicknick stressed that pardoning the insurrectionists would be a severe blow to all those who value accountability and the rule of law.
Brian Sicknick tragically lost his life one day after the Capitol attack, following a series of strokes. He sustained injuries during the violent confrontation, including being hit in the eyes with pepper spray by one of the rioters. The DC medical examiner later determined that the events of that day contributed to Sicknick's death, ultimately attributing it to natural causes.
