Brother accused of sexually assaulting sister in the '80s

A 56-year-old man is to face court accused of sexually assaulting his sister in the 1980s.

Police said that they received a report in May containing allegations committed by the male who was then a boy.

"An investigation was commenced and on Saturday, a 56-year-old man was arrested and charged with six counts of indecent assault on a female (pre-1985)," ACT Policing said.

The man was expected to appear in the ACT Childrens Court on Monday (October 21). The Childrens Court appearance was because of the accused man's age when the assaults were alleged to have occurred.

"If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence, you can report to police by attending a police station or calling 131444," the police said.

"You can also submit an online report for historical sexual assault for incidents that occurred more than six months ago."
