Detectives have charged a Broome man with bestiality and pornography offences after an extended investigation.
Police say 66-year-old Roland Eugene Ruy came to the attention of the WA Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team, who began investigating his online activities.
As part of that investigation, police allege Mr Ruy used a social media application to have sexualised conversations with a person he believed was a 15-year-old girl this month.
Detectives then searched his home in Cable Beach, where they seized a number of mobile phones and other electronic storage devices.
"It is alleged a number of images and videos of bestiality were located on the devices," a WA Police spokeswoman said on Friday.
"Further analysis of the devices is being conducted."
Mr Ruy has been charged with two counts of carnal knowledge of an animal, in addition to exposing a person under 16 to indecent material, possessing indecent material and selling or supplying indecent material.
He faced the Broome Magistrates Court on Friday, and has been remanded in custody.
Carnal knowledge of an animal carries a maximum penalty of seven years jail under WA law.
The 66-year-old is due back in court on May 27.
