Former cast members of Brookside have gave their verdict on whether or not the show will return with new episodes.
Appearing on Loose Women, Sunetra Sarker, Claire Sweeney and Alex Fletcher spoke about how they felt about the original episodes returning to screens 20 years on. The Liverpool-based soap opera was revived for a new generation of fans to enjoy after STV Player struck a major new deal with distributor, All3Media International. The show's entire catalogue of episodes is now available to stream.
Fans were delighted by the news, with many taking the opportunity to get lost in nostalgia and stream the episodes right from the start. However, for others it's still not enough and they have pleaded with producers to make all-new episodes.

Panelist Kaye Adams asked: "So you obviously are going to get people saying 'are they going to bring it back?' I mean, is that a thought in your head?"
Claire, who played Lindsey Corkhill, said: "Well never say never Kaye. Who thought they'd start showing it again from the beginning?" Jacqui Dixon actress, Alex, joked: "I think it would be a bit awkward going back to the Close and saying 'ey listen get out of our house, we need it back.'" Claire added: "Yeah people are living in them houses now."
Sunetra, who played Nisha Batra, was all for the show coming back properly. But she had her doubts as she said: "It would be hard to pick up from where we left off."
Alex said: "I feel like it would have to be a five part drama way into the night, after the watershed and we could really touch on stuff." Claire joked: "As long as they still had Barry Grant I'd be there in a heartbeat."
She added: "I was a super fan of the show, cut to two years later and I was suddenly doing these bed scenes with him and snogging him. I just couldn't believe it."
