Brookside, Corrie and Hollyoaks stars who've had run ins with the law

Former Brookside actor Louis Emerick Grant has admitted causing serious injury to two 12-year-old girls after a car crash.

The Mick Johnson star, of Liscard, Wirral, was driving his Honda car on Poulton Road in Wallasey on October 2, 2022, when he hit two schoolgirls. The two friends started to cross the road to get to a shop at around 5.15pm.

One of the girls suffered a fractured leg and the other, a fractured leg and ankle, a broken nose, broken jaw and broken teeth. Both were unable to return to school for several months after spending time in Alder Hey hospital.

Grant was breathalysed at the scene but there was no evidence he had taken drink or drugs or that he had been using his mobile phone at the time of the crash. He apologised for this incident and has been fully cooperative throughout the investigation, CPS has said.

He was arrested and charged with two offences of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving at Wirral Magistrates’ Court on May 23, 2023 and pleaded guilty. He will be sentenced on June 21, 2023 at Wirral Magistrates' Court.

Louis isn't the first soap star to have a run in with the law. There have been others who have been arrested, and even found guilty of crimes.

Coronation Street's Jody Latham

Jody Latham (Channel 4)

Jody Latham has starred in many soaps. His roles include Lip Gallagher in Shameless, Liam Clarke in Coronation Street and Rob Grayson in EastEnders.

But it seems that Jody’s acting success wasn’t enough to stop him from pursuing an unlawful career as he was arrested for growing cannabis. In court in 2012, Latham admitted to growing 24 plants that had a street value of around £9,000.

Jody was spared jail for the crime and was instead handed a 12-month sentence suspended for two years, the Mirror reports.

Hollyoaks' Nick Pickard

Hollyoaks' Tony Hutchinson star Nick Pickard (Channel 4)

Nick Pickard started playing Tony Hutchinson when the soap first began. Nick is the longest-serving cast member of Hollyoaks but in 2012 he became embroiled in a scandal when he was arrested for drunk driving.

The actor was stopped by police and a blood test discovered he was over the legal alcohol limit by 14 milligrams. Pickard pleaded guilty to driving while over the limit and was handed an £850 fine as well as a 12-month driving ban.

Brookside's Brian Regan

Brookside actor Brian Regan in Brookside Close (Sunday Echo)

Brian Regan was known as Brookside's Terry Sullivan to millions, but after he left the show in 1997 his acting career also came to an end.

Back in 2011, Regan was in Walton jail after being charged over the plot to murder Iranian doorman Bahman “Batman” Faraji.

He was cleared of knowingly playing a part in the 44-year-old dad-of-one’s execution outside an Aigburth pub the previous February but was still jailed for four years and 10 months after police found a stash of cocaine at his Garston flat - and because he lied to the murder investigation.

The dad-of-three was given VP (vulnerable prisoner) status amid fears of a revenge attack from those close to a murder gang he helped to convict.
