Brooks Koepka has made a light-hearted attempt to reignite his bitter rivalry with Bryson DeChambeau - via his wedding socks.
The four-time major champion recently married actress Jena Sims, in a lavish wedding at the Turks and Caicos. But the extravagant day didn't pass without Koepka referencing his now infamous feud.
The two American players became embroiled in a series of petty exchanges last year, with things coming to a head at the PGA Championship in May. Koepka, 32, was speaking to the TV network Golf Channel after his second round. when Dechambeau came into view.
'The Scientist' walked right behind his compatriot, with the noise of his metal spikes momentarily breaking up the interview. Koepka gave the camera an eye-roll before saying: "Sometimes, um, I lost my train of thought, hearing that bulls***. F****** Christ."
The eye-roll soon went viral and it seems Koepka was still keen to embrace the incident on the day he tied the knot. He's since shared a number of photos from his special day, including one of him pulling up his trouser leg to reveal him wearing specially made socks bearing an image of his facial expression in Kiawah Island.
However, his move was widely ridiculed on social media, with come golf fans accusing the star of being 'obsessed' with his fellow LIV Golf defector: "Yeah, Bryson totally lives rent-free in the head of Brooks Koepka," wrote @Cutch_T.
"Not surprising, that whole contrived charade and the subsequent PIP payout paid for the entire shindig," added @Mikefaherty_82, while @katenjerry took aim with: "Brooksie needs to grow up. No wonder he went to LIV. He can’t take the competition here anymore."
The pair did seemingly make up in the aftermath of the 2021 Ryder Cup in Wisconsin, embracing during the American team's wild celebrations. And indeed, they've been on the same page this year in relation to their moves to the rebel tour.
Ahead of his first tournament with the money-spinning venture in June, Koepka shrugged off the human rights record of Saudi Arabia by saying: "We're here to play golf. We're excited about it and we're going to go out there and put on the best show we can put on and hopefully one of us is up here on Saturday with a win."
