Brooks Koepka believes PGA Championship win "sparked energy" into LIV Golf

Brooks Koepka believes his victory at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill last weekend has 'sparked energy' into the LIV Golf setup, following a recent hot run for the Saudi-funded series.

Koepka secured his fifth major and third US PGA crown last Sunday, after seeing off both Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler, having held the 54-hole lead heading into the final day. The victory was not just a win for Koepka personally, but everybody involved with LIV Golf.

As a result, the 32-year-old became the first rebel player to win a major championship since the Saudi-backed series was first formed last summer.

Koepka and co have faced plenty of criticism since making the controversial switch. The American has more than answered his critics on the big stage though, following up a tied-second finish at last month's Masters at Augusta with victory in Rochester last Sunday evening.

The major win was exactly what the breakaway circuit needed, with many questioning whether those who have made the Saudi switch were still capable of competing against their PGA Tour rivals due to the more relaxed nature of LIV. Less than a week on from the win, Koepka believes the victory has given all of his LIV colleagues a boost.

Speaking at LIV Golf DC on Friday, he said: "It definitely sparks some energy into, I think, players, caddies, staff, from the top down I think it definitely sparks energy." The PGA Championship was yet another success story for the Saudi-backed series, having had arguably their most succesful period over the last few weeks.

The LIV quota more than showed their worth at Augusta last month, with three defectors finishing in the top five behind Masters champion Jon Rahm. They then put on arguably their most impressive event yet, hosting a sell-out crowd at The Grange for LIV Adelaide - their first tournament in Australia.

And the momentum has been maintained following Koepka's impressive win at Oak Hill. Hailing the recent run, he added: "If you really look at it, from Augusta until now, I think we've really built momentum, built a good -- just with good play.

"That's all it's been. To have three out of five guys I think top 5 at Augusta; Adelaide, how many people were there, the atmosphere there, which was the best tournament to that time. It just feels like everything is just rolling right now, and that's a good thing."
