Brooke Vincent was left fuming when her planned productive morning before starting her first big job since leaving Coronation Street was derailed. It was revealed last month that the actress will be swapping the small screen for the airwaves.
Audenshaw-born Brooke, who is famed for having played Sophie Webster in the ITV soap but hasn't been seen on screen since 2019 when the character left in the back of a taxi, is the new host for Hits Radio’s evening show, covering for Gemma Atkinson whilst she takes a break to have her second baby.
Brooke, who successfully landed the role after auditioning alongside a few other famous faces, has co-hosted specials for the station before but from Monday (June 5), she’ll be on air every weekday, live from Manchester, presenting alongside Mike Toolan who she has worked with before on Key 103 back in 2016.

Speaking exclusively to the Manchester Evening News about her new gig when it was announced, Brooke said she was “very nervous” as the reality sets in but she’s also “very excited”. She added: “I’ve obviously listened, I know Gem, I know Mike and yeah, I’ve listened for a while and now I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ that’s going to be me.”
But ahead of her first stint as Gemma's maternity cover, Brooke had a bit of a nightmare morning. Taking to Instagram, the mum-of-two posted a picture from outside in her back garden after the nursery run. "First day of my new job," she started to type.
"I thought I'll drop the kids at nursery. I'll come home. I'll put a wash on, I'll be really productive, put some washing away... got back. Locked out." Sharing her frustration over her attempts to wake her fiance Kean Bryan, she continued "Kean meanwhile is upstairs in bed! Blissfully asleep!!!!
"I've thrown balls at the window... Banged on the door! Banged on the window with the brush... nothing. ZILTCH. So now I'm sat here in the sun outside boiling because I'm in a hoodie... It can only get better."
She then posted a follow-up video of herself talking to the camera with the caption: "Happy Monday guys [crying laughing emoji]. First 9 hours of being 31... it's not for me! Take me back to 30." Speaking in the clip, Brooke fumed: "The most annoying thing about this whole situation, bar the fact I'm in a hood [and] I'm absolutely boiling, is the fact that I've been 10 minutes. It's been 10 minutes since me and the kids left to go to nursery and I don't understand.
"I've thrown balls at the window, I've banged on the window with a brush, I've banged on the door front and back, I've shouted his name. I don't understand how somebody is so blissfully asleep that they can't hear that. I don't get it. I don't get it at all. I don't think that's normal. I don't think it's that that's normal that you are not that aware of your surroundings that you can't hear that. I'm really mad. I'm really mad at him. I hope he's having an awful dream."
Realising people may have been laughing at her predicament, after vacating to her car, Brooke returned to speak to the camera in another video on her Instagram Story and said: "I know people find this really funny but it's really annoying. I find it really, really annoying.
"Stuff like that really annoys me. Anyway, I'm not sitting in the garden, I've come to my Auntie's for a brew." She then ended her video by saying: "Kean if you see this with all the 15,000 missed calls, we're finished." But luckily, Brooke later made it out of her hoodie and to work at Hits Radio for her first stint in the Drivetime slot.
