Brooke Scullion: Co Derry singer set to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2022

Co Derry singer-songwriter Brooke Scullion is set to take the stage of Ireland at Eurovision 2022 with her new song 'That's Rich'.

The Bellaghy woman came out on top of Friday night's RTE Late Late Eurosong special where six acts competed to fly the flag for Ireland in Italy next May.

Brooke rose to fame as a finalist of The Voice UK 2020 where she was mentored by Grammy award-winning coach/singer Meghan Trainor and duetted with stars such as Ella Eyre.

When asked by host Ryan Tubridy how she felt after hearing she'd won, the Derry girl laughed: "My nerves are shot.

"That was brutal - I'm buzzing, I want to do it again."

Brooke was one of only six finalists chosen to compete for the top spot from over 300 entries after the Late Late Show put out a call for applications last year.

Speaking about her single that she will now perform on the international stage, Brooke said: “I was reading Debbie Harry’s autobiography and wanted to encapsulate the attitude she portrayed in her life.”

Known for her energy and sass, the songwriter demonstrates her impressive and powerful vocal range, which soars atop a throbbing beat and playful instrumentation.

In her first post since winning, Brooke reshared the announcement from the official Eurovision Instagram page with the caption "guess I better learn Italian".

She will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Derry Eurovision star Dana who won the competition representing Ireland in 1970 with her song 'All Kinds of Everything'.
