Brook Lopez believes the Milwaukee Bucks not only have what it takes to win another championship—but that it’s not a “matter of if, but when.”
Milwaukee (41–23) surged out of the NBA All-Star break with six consecutive wins but have since lost back-to-back games.
Regardless, Lopez is buying stock in this Bucks team and was asked about the team’s potential to reprise its 2021 NBA Finals victory.
“We’re in a good place right now. We’re confident that we’ll keep improving and keep getting better. Everyone is putting their best foot forward,” Lopez told Mark Medina of Sportskeeda. “They have the right intentions, so it’s not a matter of if, but when.”
The Bucks fell 125–90 Wednesday to the Golden State Warriors to end the recent winning streak, and that defeat was followed by a one-point loss to the LeBron James-less Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. Neither loss is enough to sound the alarm; for Lopez, it seems he remains as confident as ever.
Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo ranks third in the NBA with 30.8 points per game this season, and sharpshooter Damian Lillard is adding 24.5 points per game, which ranks 17th in the league. Lopez is averaging 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
The Bucks are currently the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, just a half-game behind the Cleveland Cavaliers.
