Broncos vs. Texans series history: Denver has the edge

After a heartbreaking loss against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, the Denver Broncos now transition to their first home game of the 2022 season against the Houston Texans.

The first meeting between the two teams occurred in 2004, with the Broncos prevailing, 31-13.

Since that first matchup, Denver has a 5-3-0 all-time advantage over Houston.

During the Broncos’ record-setting 2013 season, Peyton Manning surpassed Tom Brady’s single-season record for touchdown passes (50) against the Texans with a 25-yard pass to Julius Thomas.

The most recent Denver-Houston game in 2019 proved to be a memorable one for rookies quarterback Drew Lock and tight end Noah Fant. Lock completed 22-of-27 passes for 309 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. On the other hand, Fant caught four passes for 113 yards and a touchdown.

Some of the biggest plays of the game came from former Texans cornerback Kareem Jackson, who signed as a free agent with the Broncos in 2019. Jackson returned a Houston fumble 70 yards for a touchdown to help Denver build a 14-0 lead before the first quarter ended. Jackson also added an interception and 11 total tackles to his massive day. The Broncos ended up beating the Deshaun Watson-led Texans 38-24.

Denver looks to move their all-time record to 6-3-0 against Houston on Sunday.
