Broncos vs. Jets series history: Denver holds all-time advantage

Week 5 of the NFL season brings the Nathaniel Hackett-led New York Jets offense into Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday against the Sean Payton-led Denver Broncos.

The Broncos hold an advantage over the Jets in the all-time series, with a 22-17-1 record.

This meeting holds significantly more intrigue than the past four games for both teams. Both teams come into this game with identical 1-3 records, each team has their lion’s share of issues with their on-field product, and both Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and current Broncos coach Sean Payton have led Denver.

Hackett’s well-documented 15-game tenure with the Broncos was heavily criticized by Payton this offseason. However, Payton’s team achieved something just two short weeks ago that hasn’t happened since the 1960s when they surrendered 70 points in a regular season contest.

The last meeting of these teams happened when Hackett was at the helm in 2022. The final result was a 16-9 Jets win. Former Broncos backup quarterback Brett Rypien started in place of Russell Wilson, and finished the loss 24-of-49 passing for 225 yards with one interception.

We hope that this game’s pregame fireworks will play out on the turf on Sunday.
