Broncos to Sign Guard Ben Powers, per Report

The Broncos intend to sign free agent guard Ben Powers when the new league year begins on Wednesday, according to a report from Mike Klis of 9News in Denver.

The deal with Powers is for four years, and brings the guard closer to his home in Wichita, Kansas. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler added that Powers will earn $52 million with his new deal, including $28.5 million guaranteed.

Denver is also set to sign OT Mike McGlinchey on a five-year deal, per reports.

The 26-year-old Powers has been a key cog in Baltimore’s offensive line for the last two seasons after taking over a starting role. He led the team with 1,096 snaps last season, and was the only member of the Ravens to be on the field for every offensive play, according to Fowler.

The former 2019 fourth-round selection had trouble breaking into the starting lineup over his first couple of seasons in the league, but ultimately became Baltimore’s most important offensive lineman.

Powers will now move to an AFC foe in Denver, where he will be valued in Sean Payton’s offensive scheme, which puts a heavy emphasis on guard play. Powers’s new deal with the Broncos indicates his worth to them as Payton tries to turn the franchise around from recent down seasons.
