Broncos to get WR Marvin Mims more involved on offense

Marvin Mims has made the most of his limited touches with the Denver Broncos through the first three games of his rookie season.

Mims has totaled 195 receiving yards on just seven receptions, averaging 27.9 yards per catch. He has also rushed three times for 13 yards and returned five kicks (one punt and four kickoffs) for 221 yards. So on 15 touches, Mims has totaled 429 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns.

Mims is a speedy, explosive player, and the Broncos plan to get him more involved on offense going forward.

“It’s a tough challenge each week when you start looking at [getting enough targets for] Mims, [Jerry] Jeudy and the other receivers. He’s someone that we don’t just view as a return specialist. We felt like when we drafted him, he had a really good deep-ball skill set. He can run. Tonight, when we finish here, we’re going to do third down.

“We will do 3rd-and-two to three, four to six, seven to 10. With every play that we put in, we talk about primary, secondary and where the touches are coming for Courtland [Sutton] or Jeudy or Mims or whoever’s in that personnel grouping. I would say a month ago — I don’t want to say we were less certain, it was just a little bit less defined at that time with him coming off an injury and then getting back into it. He’s doing well.”

Expect Mims to get more involvement on offense going forward. After an excellent start on limited touches, more snaps on offense should follow.
