Broncos Teammate Passionately Sticks Up for Patrick Surtain After All-Pro Snub

After another strong season in 2023, many observers figured Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II was in line to make a second straight AP All-Pro team.

However, when the All-Pro cornerbacks were revealed Friday morning, Surtain’s name was nowhere to be found. The All-Pro four cornerback slots went to the Dallas Cowboys' DaRon Bland, the New York Jets' Sauce Gardner, the Chicago BearsJaylon Johnson and the San Francisco 49ers' Charvarius Ward.

Surtain's veteran Broncos teammate—safety Justin Simmons, himself a second-team All-Pro selection—was having none of that.

"There are people on (social media) that think (Patrick Surtain) isn’t a top four corner," Simmons wrote. "I’m not naming them or quote tweeting because they want the attention. Just know you’re a clown and always will be and at some point you will be addressed, now just isn’t the time. Pat is ELITE."

Surtain, 23, was voted into the Pro Bowl for the second straight season. However, Denver's defensive struggles in '23 did him no favors as he fell just short of one of football's highest honors.
