The Denver Broncos are set to select 12th overall in the 2024 NFL draft, and with Russell Wilson facing an uncertain future, it would not be surprising to see the Broncos target a quarterback with their first pick.
That’s exactly what Curt Popejoy has predicted in his recent three-round NFL mock draft on Draft Wire. With Drake Maye (No. 2), Caleb Williams (No. 3) and Jayden Daniels (No. 8) already off the board, Denver lands Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. in Popejoy’s latest mock.
Penix completed 65.4% of his passes for 9,544 yards with 67 touchdowns against 19 interceptions in two years (28 games) with the Huskies.
Three other QBs — Bo Nix (No. 22), J.J. McCarthy (No. 35) and Michael Pratt (No. 70) — are picked after the Broncos land Penix.
In the third round, Popejoy has Denver picking UCLA wide receiver J.Michael Sturdivant. That would not be a shocking selection given that Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick also face uncertain futures.
