At least six NFL teams — including the Denver Broncos — sent scouts to the North Carolina vs. Miami college football game over the weekend, according to Jordan Reid of ESPN.com.
One of the most notable players featured in that game was UNC quarterback Drake Maye. With Broncos scouts in attendance, Maye completed 17-of-33 passes for 273 passing yards and four touchdowns in a 41-31 win over Miami.
With the win, the Tarheels improved to 6-0 this season. Maye has now completed 68.9% of his passes for 1,902 yards with 12 touchdowns against four interceptions this fall. He is considered one of the top quarterback prospects for the 2024 draft class.
Earlier this month, Denver general manager George Paton attended a Colorado-USC game in Boulder. Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams went 30-of-40 passing for 403 yards with six touchdowns and one interception in a 48-41 win over the Buffaloes with Paton in attendance.
The Broncos clearly seem to be planning ahead for the possibility of targeting quarterbacks in the offseason. Denver currently holds six picks in the 2024 NFL draft, including a first-round selection.
