The Denver Broncos are set to give guard Quinn Meinerz a four-year, $80 million contract extension. We don’t yet know the exact details of that full deal, but here are some tidbits we do know:
- The contract includes $45 million guaranteed
- The deal includes $24 million in Year 1
- The extension will begin in 2025
Because he still has one year left on his rookie contract, Meinerz’s new contract will not kick in until the 2025 season. Meinerz is set to earn $3.366 million this fall before getting a massive raise in the spring.
Because the extension does not start until next year, the Meinerz contract will not impact Denver’s salary cap space in 2024. The Broncos are projected to have around $7.7 million in available cap space going into training camp.
In terms of total value, Meinerz ($80 million) is now the fourth-highest-paid guard in the NFL, behind Chris Lindstrom ($102.5 million), Robert Hunt ($100 million) and Landon Dickerson ($84 million), tied with Quenton Nelson ($80 million).
Based on a per-year average salary, Meinerz ($20 million) is now tied with Hunt and Nelson as the third-highest-paid guard in the league behind Lindstrom ($20.5 million) and Dickerson ($21 million).
Meinerz’s deal is the fifth-highest total value contract the Broncos have ever given a player, according to Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac.com. View the most valuable contracts in franchise history below.
