Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year running back Tyler Badie, No. 36.
During the offseason, teammates can share jersey numbers if they play on opposite sides of the ball. This summer, Badie will share No. 36 with defensive back Quinton Newsome.
Before the Broncos: Badie (5-8, 194 pounds) played college football at Missouri, earning first-team All-SEC recognition and second-team All-American honors as a senior in 2021. In his final season with the Tigers, Badie rushed for 1,604 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding 54 receptions for 330 yards and four scores.
Badie was picked by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft but was demoted to the practice squad after failing to make their 53-man roster.
Broncos tenure: Denver signed Badie off Baltimore’s practice squad late in the 2022 season. Badie was active for the Broncos’ season finale that year and scored a 24-yard touchdown on his first career touch. He went on to spend the entire 2023 season on Denver’s practice squad.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Long shot. The Broncos have a crowded running back depth chart, so Badie is likely competing for a spot on the practice squad this summer. Barring injuries at the position, Badie probably has to wait another year for a shot at the active roster.
