Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at fifth-year safety Brandon Jones, No. 22.
Before the Broncos: Jones (6-1, 191 pounds) entered the league as a third-round pick out of Texas with the Miami Dolphins in 2020. Over the last four years in Miami, Jones totaled 238 tackles (12 behind the line), 14 quarterback hits, nine pass breakups, eight sacks, four forced fumbles, three interceptions and three fumble recoveries in 54 games (30 starts).
Broncos tenure: Denver signed Jones to a three-year, $20 million contract in March after the team released veteran Justin Simmons. Jones now joins Caden Sterns and P.J. Locke as one of three safeties competing for two starting jobs this summer.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: Lock. Jones isn’t guaranteed to start for the Broncos in Week 1, but he is guaranteed to make the team. Between Jones, Sterns and Locke, whoever ends up as the third-string safety will still see plenty of playing time, and all three will have key roles in 2024.
