Broncos QB Bo Nix played through back fractures this season

With his rookie season now completed, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has revealed the nature of the injury he suffered against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12.

“We all played with some bruises, some cuts and scrapes,” Nix said of the 2024 campaign, via KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. “The biggest week was just I had a little transverse process fracture in my back [against the Raiders]. That week, [I] got treatment and kind of made it through that week. Monday Night Football, it was a stretch that we were all kind of banged up, and I wasn’t going to miss the first Monday night game.

“So I got treatment on it and then we were fortunate to have an off week that next week. [The injury] kind of went away after that. For that moment, it was annoying, but we all play with [inaudible].”

We suspected that Nix suffered an injury after he wrapped his waist and lower back during the Raiders game. He was limited for one practice the following week before being cleared for the Browns game.

Nix went 25-of-42 passing for 273 yards with two touchdowns and no turnovers in a 29-19 win in Las Vegas. Nix said his back got twisted up in that game and he suffered three transverse process fractures.

“A lot of guys play with a lot of those kind of things,” Nix said of the injury.

The following week, Nix went 18-of-35 for 294 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in a 41-32 win over the Browns on MNF. After that, Denver had a timely bye week, giving Nix extra time to recover.

Nix finished his rookie season with 3,775 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns, four rushing touchdowns and one touchdown catch.
