Broncos offseason roster: No. 92, DL Jonathan Harris

Broncos Wire’s 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year defensive lineman Jonathan Harris, No. 92.

Before the Broncos: Harris (6-5, 295 pounds) played college football at Lindenwood, totaling 183 tackles (38.5 behind the line), six sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two pass breakups and one interception in fours years (43 games) with the college football’s Lions.

Harris was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and he played in two games before being waived.

Broncos tenure: Denver claimed Harris off waivers in 2019 and he’s been with the team since then. He is technically entering his fourth year in the NFL but is considered a third-year player because of the league’s six-game stipulation for an accrued season. Bouncing between the active roster and practice squad, Harris has appeared in 14 games over the last three seasons with the Broncos, totaling 30 tackles (two behind the line) and two quarterback hits.

Chances to make the 53-man roster: Given Denver’s limited depth on the defensive line, Harris should have a decent shot to make the active roster. If he doesn’t end up making the 53-man roster, though, Harris would likely be a top candidate for the practice squad.
