Broncos met with WR Trey Palmer ahead of NFL draft

The Denver Broncos had a pre-draft visit with Nebraska wide receiver Trey Palmer on March 23, according to The Draft Network’s Ryan Fowler.

Palmer (6-0, 192 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds and a 10-yard split in 1.51 seconds at the NFL combine. He was a backup for three years at LSU before transferring to Nebraska ahead of the 2022 season.

As a senior with the Cornhuskers, Palmer had a breakout season, totaling 71 receptions for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns in 12 games. Before that, he hauled in 30 receptions for 344 yards and three scores with LSU in 2021.

Palmer is currently projected to be a fourth-round pick in mock drafts. The Broncos hold pick No. 108 overall in the fourth round and pick No. 139 overall in the fifth round this year.

If selected by Denver, Palmer would have to compete for a depth spot at wide receiver while contributing on special teams as a rookie.

The 2023 NFL draft will be held in Kansas City from April 27-29.
