Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. Broncos outside linebacker Frank Clark (hip) has also been ruled out for Week 3.
Denver defensive lineman Mike Purcell (ankle) was back at practice on a limited basis on Friday and he’s listed as questionable on the injury report.
Buy Broncos TicketsDelarrin Turner-Yell will likely start in the place of Simmons across from Kareem Jackson at free safety. With safeties Caden Sterns (knee) and P.J. Locke (leg) on injured reserve, rookie JL Skinner is left as the only backup behind Jackson and Turner-Yell this week. Cornerback Essang Bassey will likely provide emergency depth at safety.
At outside linebacker, Jonathon Cooper is set to start across from Randy Gregory again with Nik Bonitto and Thomas Incoom getting rotational snaps behind them.
On the defensive line, Purcell’s potential absence could mean more snaps for Matt Henningsen and Elijah Garcia against Miami.
