Even as their draft position slides, the Denver Broncos continue to scout USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
Broncos general manager George Paton was in attendance on Saturday to watch Washington defeat USC 52-42 in Los Angeles, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. That game, of course, featured star college quarterbacks Caleb Williams (Trojans) and Michael Penix Jr. (Huskies).
Williams went 27-of-35 passing for 312 yards with three touchdown passes and no interceptions against Washington on Saturday. He also rushed for 16 yards and a touchdown. Paton previously watched Williams in person when USC played the Colorado Buffaloes in September.
Penix completed 22-of-30 passes for 256 yards with two touchdowns and one interception against USC. He also rushed for a touchdown.
In addition to scouting Williams and Penix, Paton also attended a North Carolina game in October to watch quarterback Drake Maye. Williams, Maye and Penix are widely considered three of the top QB prospects for the 2024 NFL draft.
