For the second time in a two-week span, Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson knocked an opponent out of a game on Sunday with a concussion.
Jackson hit Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas in the head after Thomas caught a touchdown pass in the second quarter of Sunday’s game in Denver. Jackson was penalized and ejected after the hit.
Buy Broncos TicketsJackson was also fined $14,819 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers in Week 1. As a repeat offender, Jackson seemed to be in some danger of a suspension this week.
The veteran safety has avoided a suspension, though, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and other outlets. While he won’t have to sit out a game, Jackson will likely receive another large fine for the hit.
“It was a tough call,” cornerback Pat Surtain said after Sunday’s game. “Obviously, I haven’t seen the whole thing because Kareem is a very physical player.
“It is one of those plays where we needed that stop and obviously football is a contact sport, and you got to do what you got to do to make plays. We know Kareem, and we know he likes to tackle, and he likes to make big hits.”
Before being ejected in Week 2, Jackson totaled two tackles.
