Broncos considering all QB options, including Teddy Bridgewater

Denver Broncos general manager George Paton wants to be aggressive in his search for a quarterback this offseason, but he also hasn’t ruled out bringing back the team’s starter from 2021 — Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgewater is scheduled to become a free agent later this month and Paton mentioned him among the potential FA QBs the team could consider.

“There are some ones we like,” Paton said when asked about free agent quarterbacks at the NFL combine on Tuesday, via DNVR’s Andrew Mason. “[Some of them] are very appealing, including Teddy. Teddy’s a guy — you know how I feel about Teddy. And I know the coaches watched him, they have a lot of good things to say about Teddy, the new coaches.

“So we’re just gonna keep everything open at the quarterback position. We know how important it is — the most important position in sports we believe — and I know everyone’s chomping at the bit to get one and so are we.”

Bridgewater completed 66.9% of his passes last season for 3,052 yards with 18 touchdowns against seven interceptions. He’s likely not being considered as a long-term candidate, but Bridgewater might make sense as a mentor for a young prospect if Denver drafts a QB.

NFL free agency will begin on March 16.
