Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett praises Jerry Jeudy’s football intelligence

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is heating up as the regular season winds down. Over the last three games, the third-year receiver has hauled in 19 receptions for 214 yards and three touchdowns.

So what’s behind Jeudy’s late-season spark?

“He has done a great job understanding the system,” coach Nathaniel Hackett said. “We have moved his position around quite a bit. We move them around the field so that people can’t get a beat on him. … I think Jerry is taking advantage of knowing the system. We can put him in different spots, whether it is the slot, the single, outside, inside and all over the place.

“It just shows his football intelligence to be able to be moved around and find those sweet spots. You saw him find a couple in zone. It was not a lot of man coverage. It looked like they were down some guys, so they played more zone. I give a lot of credit for him to be able to make some plays.”

Through 12 games this season, Jeudy has 49 catches for 663 yards and a career-high six touchdowns. He needs just four more catches to beat his career-high in receptions, and he’s 193 yards away from a career-high in receiving yards. With three games remaining, Jeudy is on pace to have the best season of his career.

This season hasn’t gone the way the Broncos hoped it would, but there are reasons for optimism going into 2023, including Jeudy’s promising future outlook.
