Pubs and restaurants in Far West New South Wales are celebrating Premier Dominic Perrottet's decision to ease a number of coronavirus restrictions across the state today.
Mr Perrottet has lifted bans on dancing and singing at hospitality venues, density limits and QR code check-in requirements, with the exception of nightclubs and music festivals.
From February 25, masks will no longer be mandatory in indoor settings outside of hospitals, aged care facilities, and public transport.
General manager of the Broken Hill Pub Rebecca Weller said she could see a change in the venue's atmosphere as soon as the announcement was made.
"Dancing is everything. The environment is everything and if everyone has to sit down and constantly be told off because they don't have their masks on, it kills the vibe that we've got going on.
"People are so keen to just get up out of their chairs."
Ms Weller said the pub was preparing to recoup losses it had incurred over the course of the pandemic, during shutdowns and changing restrictions.
"We've got some bands ready to go. We've got karaoke happening shortly. We're just going to pump it up as much as we can," she said.
"We've got a beautiful upstairs area at our venue as well, so we're going to start opening that up to more bands."
Ms Weller said the easing of restrictions would positively impact businesses across the regional town.
"I'm just really excited for Broken Hill to be able to open up its doors properly, not just us but other venues as well," she said.
"We've all gone through a struggle and we're hopefully coming out the other end."
