Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent: Lewis Capaldi announces Scotland tour dates for 2023

Lewis Capaldi has today (October 18) announced that he will be touring across the UK with two Scottish dates having been confirmed in Glasgow and Aberdeen.

In addition to a tour, the name for his upcoming album has now been revealed with his second album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, set to be released on May 19 2023.

This is a follow up to his debut, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which was the biggest selling UK album of both 2019 and 2020.

The 26-year-old Scottish singer and songwriter took to Instagram this morning to tease 'something big' telling his followers he had 'exciting news to share' and hours later tweeted "new album and tour anyone?" which, of course, sent Twitter into meltdown.

Beginning in Leeds on January 14, the singer is set to come to the likes of Glasgow, Aberdeen and Liverpool before finishing in Exeter on February 2 before carrying on around the rest of Europe hitting areas such as Paris and Barcelona.

Sadly there is no Edinburgh date.

The announcement comes ahead of the release of his eagerly-awaited single, Forget Me, in which he recreates the famous 1983 hit Club Tropicana music video by icons George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley who form Wham!.

The song, now silver certified and approaching 100 million streams globally, made him just the third artist this year to have a single go straight in at Number 1 in its first week, alongside Harry Styles (‘As It Was’) and Dave (‘Starlight’) and is still sitting in the UK top 3.

Speaking about his latest project Lewis said: "“I don't want to create a new sound for myself, or reinvent myself. The songs I want to write are emotional songs, about love or loss."

“I'm ready,” he concludes, champing at the bit to get back out there, “and so are the songs.”

The tour news comes as the singer is revealed to have been nominated for a 'Raymond Weil Global Artist of the Year Award' at the 2022 Specsavers Scottish Music Awards which is set to take place on November 5 for a second year at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom.

Speaking about the event Lewis Capaldi said: “Buzzing to be back home for this year's Scottish Music Awards! Remember getting my first ever trophy there back in 2017, it was such an important moment for me in everything that's gone on to happen since! Means so much to be nominated for a 4th time this year and it's always incredible to be supporting Nordoff Robbins again and all of the work they do."

Pre-sale tickets will be available from October 26 with general sale available on October 28. You can pre-order Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent here.
